Numbered 1/1, and signed to rear pastedown. [12]pp; illustrated with ink and watercolor wash. Octavo. Hand-sewn in cardboard boards backed with white paper; titled in colored paint to front. Near fine, with light wear to base of boards. A unique bookwork by Canadian painter and book artist John Laughlin, depicting through a series of ink and watercolor illustrations the seven deadly sins, each appearing as a grotesquely stylized performer. Laughlin, who studied at McMaster University and the Ontario College of Art, is also co-owner of Toronto's Grey Gallery. N.B. The Minneapolis Institute of Art holds a 2002 bookwork by Laughlin also titled The Seven Deadly Sins, presumably a later iteration on the same theme.
