Mid yellow in colour. There is more flesh to this, according to the nose, less reduction, but also not as soft as Vaillons. More in white fruit. A fine balance on the palate between this flesh and the kimmeridgian character, balanced and long, an impressive youthful Forêts which should make a striking classical Chablis. Barrel Sample: 91-93 The 2023 Chablis Fôret 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with Granny Smith, granite and light flinty aromas. There's good energy here. The palate is well balanced with decent density and a keen thread of acidity. This is lightly spiced with a rounded, white pepper-tinged finish. There is plenty of potential here. Tasted blind at the BIVB offices in Chablis. Rating: 90+
